About me

I came to enamel by accident. In my second year at the academy, a professor decided on a whim that our group needed a lesson in it. I had no idea what enamel was - it was completely abstract to me. Then I saw it. Then I tried it.

What I found was a flat surface that behaves like nothing else. Not carving, not shaping - just pure colour, powder, and fire. I love the way the powder feels before it goes in. I love how it transforms. I love that the kiln is not a tool but a collaborator, with its own ideas about what the piece should become.

It took time to understand how to bring concepts into it. For a while the medium was enough on its own. Now it feels like any other way I think out loud - like doodling, like writing. Natural. And somewhere ahead of that, maybe watch faces. Maybe something that brings enamel back as the serious art medium it always was.

A. Fraction is a studio for miniature enamel works, objects you can hold in your hand, made by fire you can't fully control.

I work across enameling techniques, drawn to each one for different reasons. Cloisonné, champlevé, wet-packing, I'm still learning them all, and that's the point. The kiln has its own ideas. I follow.

The work tends to circle around the same questions - existence, scale, the strangeness of living things. The miniature format feels right for that: small objects holding large ideas.

The result is a body of work that can't be repeated, not because of edition limits, but because the conditions that made each piece will never be exactly the same again.
