Magnetic Storm

"Magnetic Storm" is my first-ever vitreous enamel piece. Born from pure experimentation, I mixed different glass powder colors together just to see how they would transform in the kiln.

Because this early experimental artwork does not have contra enamel on the back, I attached a magnet to the reverse side of the copper piece instead. In the true spirit of wabi-sabi, working with mistakes rather than against them, the solid pine display stand is actually repurposed from a previous project where a piece wouldn't stay put.

The modified stand now features built-in magnets on both the front and the back. This unique design allows the "Magnetic Storm" artwork to snap securely to the wood, while the entire block can also mount directly onto a fridge, metal shelf, or any magnetic surface.

• The Art: "Magnetic Storm" – the artist's first original miniature enamel painting.

• The Medium: Wet-packed vitreous enamel fused to a copper disc (21 mm radius). No contra enamel. Upcycled rubber magnet mounted to the reverse.

• Dimensions: Coin - 21 mm radius. Display stand - 80 × 79 mm, solid pine finished with black acrylic varnish, held with iron nails dyed black. Upcycled rubber magnets integrated into both coin and stand.

• Edition: One of a kind. When it's gone, it's gone.

• Display Stand: Repurposed solid pine wood block with a textured matte black finish.

• Mounting: Dual-magnet system (snaps the artwork to the stand, and attaches the stand to magnetic surfaces).
